The Glushkov institute of cybernetics was reorganized in 1992 on the basis of the Soviet Union's Special Design Bureau. The Institute's main activity, according to its statute, is the creation of scientific foundations with the development and implementation of information technologies, wide purpose automated systems, computer means and their software, including (but not limited to):

• Development and implementation of new information systems for branches of the Ukrainian government, including: the Supreme Council and Office of the President of Ukraine.
• Monitoring and decision support systems for environmental protection and nature management.
• Research and development of new forms of high-performance and intelligent computer systems including general and special purpose neurocomputers.
• Research and development of integral information measuring systems for testing and diagnostics of complex technical samples.
• Information systems for support for various state bodies and institutions such as hospitals.

Uzhgorod National University: Uzhgorod, Ukraine
